IMSISS-CES Fellowship

IMSISS-CES Visiting Scholar Fellowship

The IMSISS-CES Visiting Scholar Fellowship provides mobility funding to CES Research Network members to undertake a visit of up to 2 weeks at one of the three IMSISS consortium institutions – The University of Glasgow (UK), Dublin City University (Ireland) or Charles University Prague (Czech Republic).

IMSISS is an international consortium of universities and non-academic partners funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme to deliver an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies. The IMSISS consortium is coordinated by the University of Glasgow. CES is an associate partner of the consortium. For more information please visit the IMSISS website.

Four fellowships will be available in total, one per year between 2018 and 2021. Scholars applying must be individual CES members in good standing and affiliated with one of the established CES Research Networks. During the 2019/2020 Fellowship cycle, researchers can be located at any of the consortium partners. Successful fellowship awardees must:

  • demonstrate outstanding academic and/or professional experience in the Security Studies field.

  • bring concrete added value to the IMSISS programme and the partner institution in terms of student-centered teaching/lecturing, research activities, Master thesis support, workshops, academic/professional networking etc.

  • contribute, after their visiting scholar activities, to the promotion and dissemination of Erasmus Mundus in general, and the IMSISS programme in particular, in their university and country of origin.

  • contribute a paper or article on their research—arising from their visiting scholar fellowship activities—to CES' online journal EuropeNow and provide a testimonial report for the IMSISS consortium website.

In addition, scholars may be asked to act as CES-named mentors to IMSISS collaborative dissertation placement students hosted by CES.

Priority will be given to applicants who wish to work on a joint research funding application/project or joint publication in collaboration with academic(s) within the IMSISS partner institutions and specifically at the host university where the fellowship will be carried out.

Applicants should identify relevant staff and outline proposed collaboration in the application. A full list of IMSISS consortium partner institutions and associated staff is available here.
